Book Review: For Darkness Shows The Stars

In a time when technology destroyed everything, and nearly wiped out humanity. The Luddites and the Reduced were the only ones that remained, with the Luddites in control over the islands and do not allow technology or anything else that could cause another reduction to occur. Now the Reduced are giving birth to Posts, children that are no longer Reduced, and the times are changing.
For Elliot North, a Luddite, she can't decide whether the changes are good or bad, but she can't help feeling some excitement. But, when Elliot rents her families ship yard to the Cloud Fleet for the boat they are building, she never thought that Kai, a Post that ran from her land four years ago and she was in love with, is among them. Kai has no more interest in Elliot though, he is  determined to show her what she missed out on in not taking his offer of running away with him. But when Elliot discovers Kai's secret, she doesn't know what to think. His secret could bring another Reduced time, or fix everything.
Will they be able to overcome their differences or has Elliot lost Kai forever?

This book was another one that I could just not put down. My family had to practically pry it out of my hands on Christmas. It was so weird to see a book that brought you into a future that looked a lot like a past time when slavery was okay. It was really cool though how it was done. And the story between Elliot and Kai was so confusing in a good way. I could not tell what would happen! I love when books keep you on your toes! Also, the battle between Elliot and herself and Elliot and her family was just crazy. She couldn't decide what was right, and her family was against her the whole time. In parts of the book, you have no idea who to trust at all. One of my favorite parts of the book though were the letters between Kai and Elliot when they were younger and Kai still lived on the land. It added such a unique and fun element to the story, getting to see their past with each other in between chapters of the present. Perfect touch!
Such an amazing story!!
5 out of 5 stars!
